One Plus has always managed to pull off some of the greatest feats. Their devices have edged out against some of the markets greatest competitors; Samsung, Google, and the formidable Apple iPhone. Last year Samsung released its Samsung Galaxy S7 edge packing a powerful Snapdragon 821. Google unveiled the Google Pixel phone as successor to the Nexus line. A truly ‘smart’ smartphone the Google Pixel phone left many wanting a little more. All the while Apple released the iPhone 7 with a top of the line camera and A10 fusion processor. Fast Forward to 2017 and the mobile phone world has entered a brand new era.
The Woah Factor
Samsung unveiled the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy S8 with a beautiful infinity curved display reaching edge to edge packing the new Snapdragon 835. Google, on the other hand, unveiled the Google Pixel 2 phone. A Smartphone capable of learning and listening at all times and showing these features off on an improved display, a curved display in the case of the Pixel 2 Plus; yet lacking a headphone jack, unlike its predecessor. And then there is Apple; the new iPhone 8/8 Plus did little but bring an ‘ah’ to the mouths of many only to end up with a whole entire ‘woah’ with the unveiling of the iPhone X. An edge to edge super retina HD display bringing in their version of facial recognition technology. Not only did Apple introduce a drastic change in its device body, but along came a hefty price tag of $999, not surprising for the addition of the revolutionary A11 Bionic chip.
Then there is One Plus, despite their size, the company has been able to edge out against these formidable players by bringing what easily would cost well over $800 but for a fraction of that cost. One Plus devices made a splash with the legacy of the One Plus 3/3T phones. An excellent device that not only aesthetically pleased many but gave the feel of a premium device at a reasonable cost. Kicking off last summer, One Plus released the long-awaited One Plus 5.
A premium device sporting a powerful Snapdragon 835 chip and despite the slightly smaller battery than its predecessor; One Plus has managed to edge out durability and device performance. The critiques have come and gone but in all honesty, One Plus has lived up to its promise of “Never Settle”.
